(03) 9000 0000$20 million public liability
Melbourne & Victoria
Driveways, paths, patios and paved areas cleaned back to the colour they were laid in. It is the single most visible surface on most properties, and the one that dates a building fastest — which is why it is often the first thing done before a sale, a photo shoot or a handover.
Drawn to specification — site photography scheduled. Not presented as a Vastex job.
02 — The method
Growth, oil and rust are identified and treated with the right chemistry, then given time to work.
Rotary surface cleaner across the open area for an even finish, detail wand into edges, corners and steps.
Full rinse with debris directed away from drains and garden beds.
Paved areas get their joints topped back up so the interlock is restored.
Booked as a return visit once the surface is fully dry.
01 — The detail
That grey-black film on a Melbourne driveway is almost never dirt. It is a living layer of algae, mould and lichen feeding on moisture, and it comes back fast if you only blast the top off it. South-facing driveways, anything under a tree, and paths beside a fence line are the worst affected because they simply never dry out.
We pre-treat with a biocide and let it work before any water touches the surface. That kills the growth at the root rather than just removing the visible layer, which is the difference between a driveway that stays clean for a year or two and one that is grey again by the next wet season.
Engine oil that has been sitting on unsealed concrete for years has soaked into the slab, and no amount of pressure pulls it back out. It needs a degreaser and hot water, sometimes a poultice, and sometimes it will lighten substantially rather than vanish. We will tell you honestly which of those we expect before you commit to the job.
Rust runs from garden furniture, reo chairs or fixings need an acid-based rust remover, not pressure — pressure alone just polishes the surface around the stain.
Cleaning a paved area removes jointing sand along with the weeds and moss. Left that way the pavers lose their interlock and start to rock and spread. We top the joints back up with kiln-dried or polymeric sand as part of the job.
Sealing is optional and worth considering on exposed aggregate, decorative concrete and light-coloured pavers. A good seal makes the next clean far easier, resists oil penetration, and holds jointing sand in place. It is quoted separately because it needs a fully dry surface, which usually means a return visit.
03 — Driveway & Pavers FAQ
A standard residential driveway is usually a straightforward fixed-price job. Cost moves with area, how heavy the growth or oil staining is, whether joints need re-sanding, and access. We give a fixed price up front — no hourly creep.
Eventually, yes — it is organic growth and Melbourne is damp. But pre-treating with a biocide rather than just blasting the surface typically buys you a year or two rather than a couple of months. Shaded and tree-covered areas will always regrow faster.
Sometimes. Fresh oil on sealed concrete usually comes out entirely. Old oil that has soaked into unsealed concrete generally lightens significantly but may leave a shadow. We will give you a realistic expectation before starting rather than after.
You do not have to, but it helps — particularly on exposed aggregate and light pavers. Sealing resists oil penetration, keeps jointing sand in place and makes the next clean much easier. It needs a dry surface, so it is normally a separate return visit.
